When I first heard this song on air eons ago, it had the mark of 新谣 stamped all over it. I loved the guitar and vocal only combination, which gave the song a very pure and sedating effect. Frill-less and unpolished, the only recorded-on-radio and never released 柯贵民 version is the best way (in my opinion) this song could ever be performed.
I had a cassette Walkman back then. Besides using it to listen to Faye Wong (which had the 'lup-zha-gor' song, borrowed from ChengHwa) and Boyzone, I also used it to record my favourite songs that was being played on radio. Hmm, it was the best cassette Walkman that was ever made; it can do a repeat song ala CD tracks. Otherwise, waiting by the radio and recording on cue still remains as one fo the hardest thing to do. Of course, this is one of the many songs which I pulled off air onto tape.
I managed to figure out most of the lyrics by listening to it over and over again using the song repeat function. I wrote it down on a scrap paper and pinned it unto my corkboard, and it is still there. One line of the chorus was pretty slurred and I came up with a few versions of what I thought it was. Luckily, the one I settled on was the correct one.
You could see, I had different interpretations of the earlier lines as well.
Whichever the case, I like this song a lot and still very much prefer the original cover of it. Do give credit dues to the song writers of this song =)
