The end of the year always brings mixed feelings. The tirade of Christmas songs everywhere you goes makes you think that you are in somewhere that snows (which obviously will never ever happen in SG). Then the auld lang syne reminds you that another year is going to pass by just like that. The joy of celebrating birthdays disappear quickly since the new academic year arrives almost immediately (esp in pre-uni days). And then the scary part comes, you suddenly ask yourself, what have I done for the whole of this year? Was it yet another wasteful year?
Shopped with SHQ on Christmas Eve for a 2006 organiser, because he was complaining that he has no date on Christmas Eve. Well ... so did I, although I am not feeling as miserable or what, since I am so used to be without dates anyway. It took me quite a while to realise that my 2005 Keny organiser is ending already and I'd need a new one for the new year. And that realisation, prompted me to also look back into my '05 organiser, to see what I have done for the past year.
Let's start from the beginning of '05 (we will skip minor events)
Jan'05
- Took part in planning and canvassing for WSC Senior Camp. (I did not take part in the actual camp, because they are going to Taiwan.)
- Performed at 木船 for my hall. Guitar accompaniment for 3 items. (really memorable, for various reasons)
- Ordered custom furnitures for my room.
Feb'05
- Attended 黄舒俊's 说唱会 at Esplanade Recital Hall
- SC207 Quiz
- Started blogging
Mar'05
- Interviewed for part time with Nokia (I didn't get in)
- Attended 梁静茹 爱的大游行 演唱会. YESH!
- SC206 and SC205 assessment
- Moved out of Hall. (Easily the best decision of the year)

- WSC Bash @ forgetwhereliao (had to break my vow not to go chiong due to obligation)

- Handover of my WSC duties and obligations (this is BIG to me)
- Start part timing at SIS, first show for PCK Musical (i watched it 5 times)

- Worked at Project Superstar Grand Finals

- plenty of reunion dinners
For a large part of the first half of the year, I am still chained to eca commitments (okok .. I know it is called cca now). After the handing over, I dropped all obligations and felt the liberation I had long missed. I could now join more outdoor activities or do stuff like part timing. I need not reserve Thursday evenings and be there for them all the time. I can persue my own interests and the stuff I can only do before I need to go out into the workforce and start servicing debts. You could say I have lived more meaningfully in the upper half, but have enjoyed myself more in the lower half of the year. I have also made more friends in NTU this year than the previous years in NTU. Although petty interpersonal issues bugged me near the end of the year, 2005 had been memorable.
In fact, as my mood brightens up, I am seriously considering going to the Countdown Party at Mt Faber. Got one of my favourite Project Superstar contestant Sin Huey, a fabulous view, fireworks and a chance to try my hand at night and fireworks photography. I just don't know how should I get home from there after the brainless mass decrement of time. And I don't feel like paying haha
