Finally took a breather, and ran away from all the hustle and bustle of city living, and away from the undergrad's 'curse of no-life'. And I almost lost it all. I regretted bringing my handphone along. Otherwise, it would have been much better.

Went fishing with beng and chiangkee at the kelong.

Our catch? Impressive for beginners lah haha. But you really can appreciate the abundance of nature here, away from the cities.

The lonesome jetty stretching out into the South China Sea. The dangling colored lightbulbs contrasts with the dull wooden planks and the overcast skies.

We spent one afternoon at the Sibu island beach. It would have been much better, if not for the cloudy weather. At least it is pretty much unspoiled by the careless human touch. I still managed to see small fishes dashing across my legs, and also my own feet through the clear waters.

It happens every morning, but you will only be able to see it if you make an effort to.

Turned in early the first night, and that meant 9 plus at night. And without any human or mechanical intervention, I woke up the next day and caught the first glimpse of daylight. Sunrise and sunset are amazing stuff. They first catch you by surprise, and then they disappear before you know it.

Life was good until technology kept me close to home, and work. No wonder the Chinese have a saying, "夕阳无限好,只是近黄昏。". While I didn't get to text words like 'Wished you were here with me.', there was quite a bit of 'I'm not in S'pore now. I'd get back to you when I come back after the weekend.'

The best bit I remembered was the moment we reached the kelong. I took off my watch and kept it in my bag on purpose. It might be habitual, it might be ritual, it might also be a city-dweller's shackles, but I knew somehow, somebody would ask for the time. Chiangkee was the first one to do so and I replied,

It's time for us, to forget about the time, and enjoy the times we would have here. ”
