Since it was such a humid afternoon today, I took my baby on new shoes out for a ride. I went to explore some of the places near home, but had no chance to venture into.
I have long known that Orchard Rd is a 20 minutes bus ride away, but I didn't know how close my place is to Orchard until today. I think 20 minutes was all I took for me to ride, via Tanglin Rd, to Orchard Rd where SingPost is. Well, I didn't want to ride into Orchard Rd without style, so I turned back into Tanglin Rd, to continue exploring that place.
The last time I've been to Tanglin area, was with my Medical Centre's minibus. We were going to MMI (some sort of army medical institute) to pick up some stuff that would eventually help people downgrade. My impression was, that area is rich man's place. The houses there were huge and beautiful. Furthur in, the houses there had a pre-war British-occupied look, i.e. they had a unique architectural style that was not built again in these post-colonisation days.
When I am finally done with the insides and on my way to the other end, I saw something which made me depressed for a moment. I saw, what I thought to be repulsive, all in one eye shot. I saw inside this mansion, 3 Ferraris (one of them is the Enzo!! Total $4 million), Pagani Zonda (my goodness!! $2 million dollars!!) and a Lamborghini Murcielago (waah!! $1.5 million!). Oh man ... I was dumbstruck with what I stumbled upon. All of them had car plate with the number 3, except for the Enzo, which had no car plate. I figure that it does not have one because it is a left-hand drive, so it could not be registered to be driven in Singapore. I was almost staring at them until I realised that there was a CCTV pointing at me. I shall call this place, Too Ridiculous Place.
Here I am, on my 2 wheeled baby, worth a total of $420, cracking my head to find $2k to finance my trip to Tibet, looking at a garage worth a whopping $7.5 million. And despite being a country of equal opportunities, we still have people who use candle light at night because they could not afford to pay for electricity. Something is .. really wrong. What a crazy world, this is. "
